Supreme Court Expedites Pension Appeal
(Springfield, IL) -- Supreme Court justices say they're putting the pension reform case on the fast track. They'll hear oral arguments about whether the law is constitutional or not in March. A Springfield judge shot the law down, claiming it violates the pension clause of the state constitution which says benefits can't be impaired or diminished. The state appealed that ruling and asked the Supreme Court to expedite the case. They say lawmakers need to know how to move forward when it comes to crafting a budget for next year.
