Give Kids Gifts That Keep Giving

(Undated) -- To a young child, financial gifts may not seem like a lot of fun. Merrill Lynch Managing Director Marie Vanerian says she likes to give a child something to go along with that ten dollars that is fun and teaches a lesson or two. She says you can teach kids that coins are money too and says you can give a child a coin sorter along with that envelope that jingles. For the older kids, she suggests savings bonds because they look and feel like cash but teach the lesson of patience.
