Dollar General Still Wants Family Dollar

(Undated) -- Dollar General says it still wants to acquire the Family Dollar stores. They made the announcement Thursday as they reported lower than expected third-quarter profits. Family Dollar rejected an offer by Dollar General in September because of antitrust concerns, and instead went with a lower bid from Dollar Tree. Dollar General then made a tender offer to Family Dollar shareholders, which also came under scrutiny of regulators. Family Dollar investors will vote on the Dollar Tree acquisition on December 23rd. Dollar General Store has locations in Canton, Farmington, Cuba and Lewistown.
