Benedictine Employees Bracing For Pink Slips

(Springfield, IL) -- The first round of layoffs at Benedictine University at Springfield are beginning at the end of this month. The school decided to drop its undergraduate studies program at the Springfield campus last month. Several of the six admissions employees that have been notified of layoffs effective December 31st have already found work elsewhere, while one has been hired for a different job at Benedictine. The school originally announced nearly 100 full-time faculty and staff would be let go, but a spokeswoman says the school doesn't know the exact number.
