Bobcats In Crosshairs After Senate Vote

(Springfield, IL) -- The number of bobcats in the woods and fields of Illinois has grown to the point where the Illinois Senate has now approved a bobcat hunting season. The House passed the bill in March and the Senate voted yesterday, so it now goes to Governor Pat Quinn's desk for his signature. If the bill becomes law, the state Department of Natural Resources would be empowered to determine when and where bobcats could be hunted and the number of bobcat hunting licenses that could be issued. Bobcats have been spotted in 99 of Illinois' 102 counties, including Fulton County.
