Statewide Ride-Sharing Regulation Bill Cruises Through House
(Springfield, IL) -- Rather than look for votes to override Governor Pat Quinn's veto of an earlier bill regulating ride-sharing services, lawmakers in the House have passed a new bill. Sponsors say this bill was put together with the help of both the taxi and ride-sharing industries. It calls for the companies and the drivers to have a million-dollars in insurance and requires background checks and licensing requirements for drivers of companies like Uber and Lyft, which are already operating in Chicago. The Senate could vote on the bill today.
