Retail Sales On Thanksgiving And Black Friday Edge Downward

(Undated) -- Retail sales over Thanksgiving and Black Friday are down slightly compared to last year, but far more customers opted to shop on Turkey Day. ShopperTrak estimates traffic to brick-and-mortar retailers surged 27-percent this year, while Black Friday traffic tumbled just over five and-a-half percent. The deluge of new Thanksgiving Day shoppers wasn't quite enough to beat or match last year's 12-point-35 billion dollars in sales. This year's sales came in at 12-point-29 billion.
