Canton Man Charged With Assault

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing assault charges after an incident that occurred last week in Canton. Canton police say they were dispatched to 49 East Oak Street in Canton Tuesday afternoon at just before 1:45 in regard to a disturbance that was occurring. While at the scene police talked to the two victims, a 49-year old Canton female and a 17-year old Canton male. The two victims told police that 61-year old Mark M. Meves had a pocket knife on him and that he had allegedly threatened them with it. Officers did speak with Meves and charged him with assault. He was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on the charge. Meves was given a notice to appear and released after being given a January Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Disorderly Conduct Charges Filed Against Canton Man

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man was arrested after Canton police were receiving complaints of a man who had a gun and possibly using it. Police say they were dispatched to the 1000 block of South 5th Avenue Thursday night at just before midnight. Police met with complainants who told them that the suspect, 48-year old John P. Eyman, was approaching females and attempting to give them hugs. He repeatedly had been told to back off. Eyman was charged with disorderly conduct by police and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He posted a $120 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released with a January Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Active Warrant Leads To Canton Woman’s Arrest

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman who was wanted on an active warrant turned herself in to authorities earlier this month. Police say that 31-year old Beth L. Pitzer was wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Small Claims Warrant for contempt of court. She turned herself in on Friday, November 14th. She was arrested and processed for the warrant. Pitzer posted a $100 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released. She has a December Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Morton Woman’s Body Found In Car Submerged In McClean County Lake

(Hudson, IL) -- Authorities in McClean County say the body of a missing Morton woman was found over the weekend. The McClean County Coroner's office says that the body of 83-year old Katherine "Kay" Reardon was found inside of a car that was submerged in Evergreen Lake. The lake is located in Hudson, Illinois. The investigation into the matter is continuing. The car was found near a boat ramp Sunday morning at about 10.

Peoria Standoff Ends Peacefully

(Peoria, IL) -- A standoff in Peoria over the weekend ended peacefully Sunday night. Authorities say they were dispatched to a home located in the 800 block of East Virginia Avenue Sunday afternoon. Police say that a woman had fled the home following a domestic disturbance. A man who was still inside the house told authorities that he had a gun and would not come out of the home. He later peacefully surrendered to authorities about seven hours after the standoff began. He was arrested on a charge of domestic battery.
