High Court To Consider FutureGen Case

(Springfield, IL) -- The state's highest court is stepping into a battle over electricity. The Supreme Court justices have agreed to hear a case that would determine if companies like Ameren and ComEd should buy their electricity from the FutureGen clean coal plant in Morgan County. The Illinois Commerce Commission has already ordered the utility companies to sign 20-year contracts for FutureGen-produced power. ComEd officials are appealing the ICC ruling, claiming they've overstepped their authority.
