Canton Woman Charged With Taking Items From Local Grocery

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing charges after taking several items from a North Main Street business last week. Canton police say they were dispatched to Hy-Vee on Wednesday of last week on the report of a retail theft. An investigation resulted in the arrest of 55-year old Christina K. Johnson. Johnson allegedly took a package of meat, sweet tea, Tylenol, cheese cake and a DVD movie that totaled just under $40. She was given a notice to appear and released with a January Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. The items were recovered. Johnson was escorted out of the store and told not to return.

Canton Man Charged With Public Drinking

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after he was caught drinking alcohol on a downtown area sidewalk over the weekend. Canton police say they arrested 46-year old Gordon W. Pollitt on public drinking charges last Sunday morning at about 12:15 after they observed him drinking alcohol outside of Moore's Pub on the sidewalk. he was given a city ordinance citation of public drinking and released at the scene after being given a January Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Canton Woman Wanted On Valid Warrant Arrested

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman wanted on a valid warrant after Canton police responded to a disturbance at a downtown tavern over the weekend. Police say they were dispatched to Jack's Bar Sunday morning at about 12:30 on the disturbance. While they were investigating the matter, officers located 32-year old Ashley M. Nell who was wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Traffic Warrant driving with a suspended driver's license. She was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed for the warrant. Nell posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released. Nell was given a December Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Peorian Sentenced For April Shooting

(Peoria, IL) -- A Peoria man accused to be involved in a shooting that occurred on the south side of Peoria in April was in Peoria County Circuit Court earlier this week. Adrian L. Jackson was sentenced to 19-years of prison time on Monday. In September, a jury found Jackson guilty of aggravated battery for the shooting that injured Shalonna Robinson and took place in the 2200 block of West Malone. The shooting occurred on April 11th of this year.
