Galesburg Man In Court For Not Being Certified As Concealed Carry Instructor

(Undated) -- A Galesburg man who allegedly conducted several concealed carry certified classes in the area was in Knox County Circuit court recently because the state says he is not certified to instruct the classes. 36-year old Nicholas J. Rabenau was arrested last Monday on 12 felony counts of forgery. Authorities say that Rabenau collected payments of $250 from several people who thought he was certified as an instructor for concealed carry. Fulton County authorities say that Rabenau also taught some classes in Fulton County and Canton police advise anyone who took one of his classes to contact authorities with the Illinois State Police Concealed Carry Division.

Mason County Man Arrested After Traffic Stop In Canton

(Canton, IL) -- A Mason County man is facing drug charges after Canton police conducted a traffic stop last week in Canton. Police say they conducted the stop after observing a vehicle roll through a stop sign in the 400 block of South Main Street last Monday night at about 7:30. After making the stop, officers identified the driver as 39-year old Donald L. Craig of Havana. The Canton K-9 was brought in and alerted on the vehicle after a free air sniff. Police located a hitter pipe used to smoke pot in one of Craig's pockets. They also located a small plastic baggy that had a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana in it. Craig was given a written warning in regard to the stop sign violation. He was cited for driving a motor vehicle without insurance and for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams. He was released after being given a notice to appear and given a January Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Rural Lewistown Man Arrested For Valid Warrant

(Canton, IL) -- A rural Lewistown man wanted on an active warrant was arrested in Canton last week. Canton police say they arrested 33-year old Paul W. Slater in the 100 block of East Elm Street Friday morning at 12:15 on a 2012 Stevenson County Warrant possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant. Slater was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail to await to be picked up by authorities from Stevenson County.

Two Injured In Friday Night Accident In Peoria

(Peoria, IL) -- An accident Friday night in Peoria resulted in two people suffering injuries in the crash. Police say it happened at about 8 Friday night at the intersection of University and Austin when a car crashed in to a tree. The tree was located in the median of University. Two people had to be removed from the car, but authorities say the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

Fire Destroys Green Valley Garage

(Green Valley, IL) -- A fire near Green Valley Sunday afternoon resulted in a garage being destroyed. Green Valley Firefighters responded to the home located in the 2600 block of Wagonseller Road yesterday afternoon at about 3. A passerby noticed the fire located in a detached garage on the property and alerted authorities. The garage was destroyed and it caused an estimated $10 to $20-thousand in damages. The fire continues to be looked into by investigators at the Green Valley Fire Department.

Two Pulled Alive From Collapsed Apartment Building

(Chicago, IL) -- Two women are fighting for their lives after an apartment building collapsed on top of them. Chicago officials say there may have been an explosion just before the three-story, three-unit building on East 58th and South Calumet Avenue went crumbling to the ground. Crews pulled both women from the rubble around 7:30 last night and rushed them to local hospitals, where they're said to be in serious to critical condition. A dog was also rescued.
