Accident Results In Charges Against Canton Man (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing several charges after police in Canton were dispatched to an accident. Canton police say they were dispatched to the area of South 3rd Avenue and East Oak Street last Thursday morning at just after 1, on the report of an accident with the vehicle on its side. Witnesses told police that they observed a vehicle that was being driven by 27-year old Daryl E. Spiesz drove into a field near the intersection and the vehicle flipped onto it side. During their investigation, police determined that Spiesz had been drinking and he was unable to provide proof of insurance of the vehicle to authorities. He was then arrested on charges of DUI, reckless driving and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. After his arrest he was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on the charges. Spiesz was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Traffic Stop Results In Charges Against Canton man (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man was arrested over the weekend following a traffic stop that happened in the downtown Canton area. Police say that a vehicle driven by 66-year old Frederick L. Barlow turned left onto White Court in front of a squad car Saturday morning at just before 12:15, causing the police officer to take evasive action to avoid an accident. An investigation resulted in Barlow being charged with DUI. He was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on the charge. Barlow posted a $300 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released. He was given a December Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Double Fatal Accident In Henderson County Claims Galesburg Mans Life (Henderson County, IL) -- A double fatality accident occurred earlier this week in Henderson County. One of the two that lost their life in the accident was from Galesburg. Authorities say that both drivers in the accident were killed. 46-year old Christopher Brooks of Galesburg and 50-year old Cynthia Stambaugh of Burlington, Iowa died as a result of injuries suffered in the accident that happened Monday night. Brooks was eastbound on Illinois Route 34, while Stambaught was westbound on the same highway. Authorities say that Brooks crossed over the center line, striking the Stambaugh vehicle on the driver's side. ISU Student Was Found Dead In Dorm Room (Bloomington, IL) -- The McLean County coroner says an Illinois State University student died from hanging this weekend. Campus police found Christopher Predmore in his dorm room late Saturday afternoon. Cops say they were convinced to look for the student after relatives requested that they check on his well-being.
