Man in Custody Following Shooting At Norridge Mall
(Norridge, IL) -- A man is being held without bond following a shooting at a Norridge mall that left two people hurt. Everett Harris is facing multiple charges including attempted murder and aggravated kidnapping. Police say a man in Chicago took his ex-girlfriend's two young children last Thursday without permission and took them to the Harlem Irving Plaza mall. The children's mother and cousin confronted the ex-boyfriend in the mall's parking garage. He then allegedly shot them both before driving off without the children. The suspected gunman was arrested not long afterward.
ISU Student Dead In Dorm Room
(Normal, IL) -- An investigation is underway after an Illinois State University student was found dead in his dorm room. Campus police went looking for the student after his family called and asked for a well-being check. It doesn't appear that there was any foul-play involved in the death. An autopsy is being conducted today.
Friday Night Peoria Accident Investigated By ISP
(Peoria, IL) -- Three people were injured in a Friday night accident that took place on Ten Mile Road along Illinois Route 116. Illinois State Police say the accident happened at about 7:30 on Friday night when one of the vehicles failed to yield at the intersection, striking a second vehicle. Both vehicles then left the roadway and struck two telephone poles, knocking out power in that area. Police say the three were taken to area hospitals to be treated for injuries suffered in the accident but none were considered life threatening.
