Improper Use Of Contacts Can Lead To Eye Infections

(Undated) -- Improper care of contact lenses increases the risk of developing eye infections. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows people made nearly one-million doctor's visits in the U.S in 2010 to treat an infection of the eye's outer covering caused by bacteria, fungi, or viruses. The biggest risk factor for the infection is improperly wearing contact lenses. Some suggestions from the CDC to prevent eye infections include washing hands before touching contact lenses or removing them before going to bed.
