Twelve People Self-Monitoring For Ebola
(Springfield, IL) -- The release of a doctor from a New York City hospital means there are no active Ebola cases in the United States, but here in Illinois, a dozen people are being monitored for possible exposure to the deadly virus. Those people being monitored are all considered low risk, so they've been advised to take their temperatures and report them to health officials every day, along with the emergence of any symptoms. State health director Dr. Lamar Hasbrouck says the chances of an outbreak in Illinois remain low, but other health officials say the state should establish a fund for treating any health care workers who may become ill in the near future.
