November Is National Diabetes Month

(Undated) -- November is National Diabetes Month. Doctor Griffin Rodgers with the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases says the nearly 30 million Americans with diabetes are at higher risk of heart problems. The "A" stands for the A1C test that measures a person's average blood sugar level over the past three months, rather than just the day of the test. The "B" is for blood pressure, "C" is for cholesterol and "S" is a reminder to stop smoking. Rodgers says more than a hundred-million Americans either have diabetes or pre-diabetes.
