Farmers Making Good Progress With Harvesting
(Undated) -- Farmers in Fulton County as well as the rest of the state are making progress in harvesting their fields. Crop Statistician Mark Schleusener says they had a good week last week, but they're still a bit behind compared to last year. The harvest is 87-percent complete, compared to 92-percent one-year-ago. Ninety-one-percent of soybeans has been harvested, down from 96-percent this time last year. Sorghum is right on target with the five-year-average, at eighty-three-percent complete. Winter wheat planting advanced by 15-percentage points last week and now stands at 84-percent complete. Fifty-two percent of the crop has already emerged.
