Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Two Canton Residents
(Canton, IL) -- Two people are facing charges after a traffic stop in Canton late last week. Canton police say they made the 300 block of West Pine Street. Police say they received a report of a vehicle with open alcohol inside of it that was in the 300 block of West Locust Street Friday night at just before 10:45. After making the stop the driver was identified as 35-year old Sandra D. Stockman. A 17-year old Canton female was a passenger in the front seat of the vehicle. Officers at the scene located a hitter pipe used to smoke pot inside the vehicle and also 3 1/2 pills of adderall. The juvenile was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stockman was charged with open alcohol. Both Stockman and the teen were taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed on the charges. Stockman was given a notice to appear and released with a pending December Fulton County Court date. The teen was given a juvenile intake referral and released to the custody of her parents.
Lewistown Man Facing Charges Following Disturbance At Downtown Canton Bar
(Canton, IL) -- A Lewistown man is facing charges after Canton police responded to a bar in downtown Canton. Police say they responded to Billy's on the report of an argument that was taking place in the beer garden. An investigation into the matter determined that 33-year old Beau J.Carruthers struck the victim, a 27-year old Canton male in the side of the head, wanting the victim to leave the tavern. Carruthers was cited for disorderly conduct, a city ordinance violation. He was given a notice to appear and released. He will have to a pay a fine within two weeks or will have a January Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
Valid Warrant Results In Canton Mans Arrest
(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on an active warrant was arrested after Canton police responded to a disturbance last week. Authorities say they responded to an address in the 100 block of South 7th Avenue Friday night at just before 7:30. A female indicated that a family member was at the residence causing a disturbance. An investigation found that 44-year old Jason M. Engle was wanted on a 2002 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant failure to appear pay order for delivery of alcohol to a minor. Engle was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He was unable to post bond and Engle was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Peoria Fire Blamed On Dryer Catching Fire
(Peoria, IL) -- A fire in Peoria on Monday caused a considerable amount of damage to the residence. Firefighters were dispatched to the 1500 block of NE Jefferson yesterday at about 5. Upon arrival, firefighters found fire coming out of a window. Residents at the home say that it started in the laundry dryer after items were placed in the dryer and it was started. The fire caused an estimated $30,000 in damage.
