Hunters Can Use State Police Shooting Ranges

(Springfield, IL) -- Hunters can use the state police shooting ranges to sharpen up their skills and test out their shotguns before opening day. The idea is give hunters a place to make sure their guns are accurately sighed-in before they hit the fields. The guns will be checked in a controlled environment with experts on hand to ensure the shotguns are being used appropriately. Ranges in Joliet, Effingham, Macomb, Pawnee, and Pittsfield will open up this Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Anyone interested in using the ranges should have a valid FOID card and their own ammunition. They should also make a reservation before this Saturday. Targets will be provided. The closest State Police Shooting Range for hunters in Fulton County is located in Macomb.
