Funeral For Congressman Lane Evans Today

(East Moline, IL) -- A former Illinois Congressman is being laid to rest today. The funeral service for Lane Evans will take place 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church on 17th Avenue in Moline. An internment with full military honors will be held at noon at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Lane died last Wednesday after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. He was elected to Congress in November of 1982 and served until the end of December in 2006.

Evans represented the 17th Congressional District

in Illinois that includes Fulton County.
