Tributes Begin For Former Congressman Lane Evans
(East Moline, IL) -- Illinois elected officials are offering praise today for former congressman Lane Evans, who died last night after a long battle with Parkinson's disease at the age of 63. Evans served the Rock Island area in Congress for 24-years, beginning in 1982. U.S. Representative Cheri Bustos said Evans, "represented everything that is right about public service." U.S. Senator Dick Durbin said Illinois "... lost one of its kindest, most caring public servants." A former Marine, Evans was known as a strong advocate for veterans.
