Police Investigate Mysterious Death Of Baby
(Beardstown, IL) -- Police in Beardstown are trying to figure out what happened to a ten-month-old baby. They were called out to a food mart on Wall Street last Friday and found the baby with his mom, but severely injured. He'd reportedly been in the care of the mom's live-in boyfriend. The man came to the scene while the cops were there but when cops approached, he reportedly pulled out two knives and started stabbing himself. He was taken into custody but so far there's no word on if he's the one who injured the baby, who later died.
Former Deputy Sentenced Again In Child Sex Abuse Case
(Woodstock, IL) -- A former McHenry County sheriff's deputy, already facing 50-years in prison on federal child sex abuse charges, had that sentence nearly doubled last week when he was sentenced on state charges. Thirty-nine-year-old Gregory Pyle was sentenced to 45-years on Friday after pleading guilty to a single count of child sexual assault -- a plea that meant the state dropped nine other counts. Pyle was initially accused of repeatedly abusing a boy under twelve and shooting and posting video of some of those acts. His sentences will be served concurrently.
Convicted Taylorville Doctor Jailed After Cocaine Charge
(Taylorville, IL) -- A Taylorville doctor will remain behind bars until his sentencing date after a recent cocaine possession charge. Doctor Vernon Klinefelter was free on bond as he waited for his December 11th sentencing hearing after he was convicted for Social Security fraud. A federal judge says the physician's arrest on Monday showed that he's a danger to the public. Dr. Klinefelter's medical license has been suspended by the state.
