McDonough County Accident Injures Cuba Woman

(McDonough County, IL) -- A two vehicle accident in McDonough County left a Fulton County resident with minor injuries. Illinois State Police say the accident happened Tuesday morning at about 8:50 on Illinois Route 41 at the intersection with 1700 North McDonough County. Authorities say that a vehicle driven by 26-year old Andrea Buchholz of Macomb was northbound on Route 41 when she failed to reduce her speed and struck a vehicle driven by 31-year old Andrew K. Hess of Elmwood. 37-year old Bettie M. Johnson of Cuba was a passenger in the Buchholz vehicle and had to be taken to McDonough District Hospital in Macomb to be treated for what was called minor injuries. A second passenger in the Buchholz vehicle, 24-year old Van E. Chaney, III of Bushnell was not injured. Buchholz was cited by troopers for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.

Canton man Charged After Altercation In Downtown Canton

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after police observed two men in a physical altercation in downtown Canton. Police say they witnessed the two men fighting in a parking lot along White Court Sunday morning at just before 1:15. A 30-year old Canton male told police that 22-year old Jacob R. Jester had started the fight. After an investigation, police arrested Jester on a disorderly conduct charge. Jester was given a notice to appear at the scene and released. He was given a November Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Valid Warrant Leads To Canton Mans Arrest

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on an active warrant was arrested following a traffic stop in Canton over the weekend. Police say they stopped the vehicle at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Ash Street Sunday morning at 1:45 for not having working tail lights. After making the stop, the driver of the vehicle was identified as 39-year old Eric J. Greer. Greer was found to be wanted on a 1998 Fulton County Felony Warrant, failure to appear pay order delivery of a controlled substance. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. Greer was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Canton Man Arrested On Active Warrant

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on a valid warrant was arrested last week in Canton. Police say they stopped 51-year old Douglas L. Burks outside of Jack's Bar located on East Elm Street for yelling. Authorities say that Burks had been kicked out of the bar earlier. He was found to be wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Warrant for noises prohibited. Burks was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant. He was unable to post bond and Burks was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

North Pekin Man Enters Guilty Plea In Accident That Killed Friend

(Pekin, IL) -- A North Pekin man was in Tazewell County Circuit Court on Tuesday, entering a guilty plea in connection with a fatal accident that occurred earlier this year. 22-year old Jacob Lehmkuhl entered the guilty plea yesterday to a charge of aggravated DUI in connection to an accident that killed a passenger in the vehicle he was driving in East Peoria. Lehmkuhl is scheduled to be back in court in December to be sentenced.

Bloomington Man Convicted Of Burglary

(Bloomington, IL) -- A Bloomington man is expected to be sentenced in December for his part in a car theft ring. Alec Shriver pleaded guilty Monday to burglary. Two other men also have been charged. Police say the vehicle theft operation accessed several cars that were unlocked.

Man Facing Murder Charges In Woman’s Death

(Jacksonville, IL) -- Police in Jacksonville say a 24-year-old Illinois man is facing murder charges in last week's death of a 19-year-old woman. Police say Marcus A. Jackson has ties to Jacksonville, Springfield and Decatur, and he's now facing three counts of first-degree murder in the death of Avery T. Berry. Police say Berry was not responding when they arrived to the scene of a home in the 300 block of North Fayette Street early Friday morning.
