Domestic Battery Charges Filed Against Canton Man
(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing domestic battery charges after Canton police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance on Fulton Place earlier this week. Upon arrival Monday at the home located in the 200 block of Fulton Place, police found blood on the face and shirt of the victim, a 42-year old Canton female. Witnesses told authorities that they observed a male and female arguing in front of the residence and that the suspect allegedly shoved the victim off of the porch, hitting her head on concrete. The suspect, who was identified as 49-year old Steven K. Decker, then came off the porch and punched the victim in the face. The victim was transported to Graham Hospital by ambulance for further treatment of her injuries. Decker was arrested on the domestic battery charge and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Tuesday Peoria Shooting Being Investigated
(Peoria, IL) -- A shooting on the south side of Peoria has left one person hospitalized. The shooting occurred near the 1500 block of Adrian Hinton Avenue near Dusable at just before 8:30 last night. Police were notified by the city's shot-spotter system. Upon arrival, police found a man that was on the ground, suffering from two gunshot wounds to the lower portion of his body. The individual was taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria to be treated for the gunshot wounds. Authorities say they have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting. The investigation is continuing.
Washington Authorities Investigating Robbery
(Washington, IL) -- Authorities in Tazewell County have a possible suspect in custody in connection with a robbery that occurred at a gas station in Washington. The holdup happened yesterday at just before noon and took place at the Quick Stop located on Peoria Street. Police say that the suspect fled the scene but the possible suspect was located at Taft and Monroe and then ordered to stop. He then fled on foot but was tracked by police to a home that is located in the 400 block of Wood Street in Washington.
Buggy Crash Kills Horse And Injures Person
(Arthur, IL) -- A crash involving two vehicles and a horse-drawn buggy in Arthur has left the animal dead and one person hurt. Douglas County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Peter Buckley says the accident happened last Friday on Illinois 133, between Arthur and Chesterville. He added that somehow a truck lost control, hitting a Jeep and one of the two vehicles struck the buggy, flipping it over. A ticket was given to 21-year-old Christopher Butler for not reducing speed to avoid an accident. The crash is still under investigation.
Cubs Scouts Injured In Explosion
(Rockford, IL) -- Three Cub Scouts are recovering after an explosion left them with burns on their faces and arms. The scouts were injured during an experiment in Raymond on Monday. Scout leaders were mixing laundry detergent with anti-freeze hoping to create green flames but after a couple of attempts, the mixture erupted into a ball of fire. An adult was also injured. None of them were wearing eye protection.
