Doctor Comments On Metastatic Breast Cancer Awareness

(Undated) -- There are tens of thousands of people in this country who were treated successfully for early stage breast cancer only to find out years later that the cancer had spread. Shirley Mertz, President of the Metastatic Breast Cancer Network explains. Mertz says 30-percent of people who have had early stage breast cancer will advance to metastatic cancer years later. She says people need to know so that even though it is critical to shine a light on the need for early detection and treatment, shining another light on this incurable cancer is critical as well.
