Wet Weather Bogs Down Corn Harvest
(Undated) -- Farmers in Fulton County and the rest of the state have a record corn crop on their hands, but rain and wet weather are hampering their efforts to get it out of the fields. As of Sunday, only 35-percent of the crop has been picked, behind the pace of the last five years, when more than half the corn was harvested by this time. The U.S. Department of Agriculture also says just 29-percent of the Illinois soybean crop is in, down from the five-year average of 52-percent by this time of the season.
