Canton Man Arrested After Allegedly Taking Woman's Wallet
(Canton, IL) -- Canton police arrested a Canton man over the weekend after he allegedly took a woman's wallet from her purse at a downtown Canton tavern. Authorites say they responded to the bar located at 46 White Court in Canton Saturday morning at just after 1:30 and met with the victim, a 35-year old Canton female. The woman told police that she was dancing with several females when she left her purse on a table. She said there was a male that was acting suspicious around the table and when they returned the wallet was missing. Officers found the man, identified as 35-year old Geoffrey B. Williams outside of the bar near the rear. Police say that while speaking with Williams that a womans wallet fell out of his sweatshirt. He was then arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department and processed on a charge of theft under $500. Williams was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Pekin Man Accused In Peoria County Business Burglaries Found Guilty But Fails To Return To Court For Verdict
(Peoria, IL) -- A Pekin man who is one of two men accused in several burglaries of businesses in Peoria County as well as in Tazewell County was found guilty of the Peoria County burglaries. 41-year old Brian Patterson left the Peoria County Courthouse during jury deliberations and did not return when the jury returned. Patterson was free on bond. A Peoria County Circuit Court jury found Patterson guilty in connection with the burglary of the Arby's located on Allen Road in Peoria County last year. He is due back in Peoria County Circuit Court, but after the guilty verdict, authorities began their search for Patterson. He is due in Tazewell County Circuit Court next week in connection with the burglaries in that county.
