Firefighters And Assistant State's Attorneys Honored For Their Efforts In Solving Deadly Fire

(Peoria, IL) -- Two firefighters from Peoria have been recognized for their efforts in solving an arson fire that was deadly. Division Chief Phillip Maclin and Bradley Pierson were honored by the International Association of Arson Investigation on Monday. Both Maclin and Pierson were recognized for helping with the investigation that resulted in the arrest as well as conviction of Aunterrio Barney. Barney was sentenced to life in prison. He set fire to his former girlfriend’s apartment. That fire killed three adults as well as a two year old child. Three Peoria County Assistant State's Attorney's were also honored by the Illinois Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators on Monday. Assistant State's Attorneys Donna Cruz, Dave Gast and Deb Shelby each were recognized for their assistance between multiple agencies. They were all honored during the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association Annual Conference that was held in Peoria.
