Canton Man Charged For Failing To Register As Sex Offender (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after he failed to register as a sex offender. Canton police say they were conducting routine address verifications and it was during that check that they learned that 33-year old Tommy L.E. Kruzan was not living at the address that he was registered at. An investigation also found that Kruzan had not properly registered his employment. He was located in Farmington and arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed on charges of Failure to register as a Sex Offender for both his residence and his employment. He was taken to the Fulton County Jail to be held on a $20,000 bond. Kruzan later posted a $2,000 cash bond and was released.

Domestic Disturbance Leads To Arrest Of Canton Man (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after Canton police responded to a domestic disturbance last week. Police say they were dispatched to the 500 block of North 10th Avenue Thursday night at about 10:45 for the disturbance. Authorities say that the victim, a 40-year old Canton female, ran from the residence and indicated to officers at the scene that she had been struck in the head by the suspect. Police say the victim did have injuries to the forehead. She told police that the suspect, 34-year old James C. Lowe threw her onto the living room floor, causing the injury to her head. Lowe was then arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on a charge of domestic battery. He was also found to be in possession of under 2.5 grams of pot and charged with unlawful possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams. He was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Peorian Enters Guilty Plea To 2013 Murder (Peoria, IL) -- A Peorian who was indicted in connection with the River City's 8th murder last year was in Peoria County Circuit Court on Tuesday. 36-year old Darcy Morris changed his plea to guilty to one count of murder. Morris was then sentenced to 25 years of prison time. He will have to serve the entire sentence as part of the plea bargain. Morris had been charged in connection with the beating death of John Dunnigan in July of 2013.

Creve Couer Fire Allegedly Started By Child (Creve Coeur, IL) -- A weekend fire in Creve Couer was allegedly started by a child. Authorities say the child was playing with a lighter and that’s what caused a garage fire on Pekin Avenue. The garage was destroyed and it caused some damage to the house. The amount of damage that occurred to the property as well as contents was placed at $20,000. Only two of the residents at the house were at home when the fire started.

Chicago Man Charged With Making Threats At SIU (Chicago, IL) -- A Chicago man is in federal custody, accused in a year-long series of mailed threats of violence at SIU's Carbondale campus. Derrick Dawon Burns was arrested yesterday on eight charges of mailing threats of violence including rapes, killings, bombings and beheadings to the campus where he was a student in 2012. Authorities say Burns actually called attention to himself when he phoned campus police and the FBI in July, insisting that another man had told him about the threats. The FBI says it traced those calls to him and also reportedly matched Burns' fingerprints to some of the letters.
