Police Responding To Domestic Disturbance Make Arrest

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after Canton police were dispatched to a domestic disturbance over the weekend on East Spruce Street. Police say they responded to an address in the 1400 block of East Spruce. Police say that 47-year old Scott A. Floerke and a 74-year old Canton woman were arguing over his getting a job. Floerke allegedly struck the victim in the chest twice and also allegedly kicked her in the leg and struck her in the arm. Officers at the scene observed visible injuries to the victim. Floerke was then arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed on a domestic battery charge. He was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

(Canton, IL) -- Two people are facing charges after Canton police conducted a traffic stop last week. Officers say they made the stop after they observed the vehicle squealing tires in the area of 7th Avenue and Walnut Street. Upon making the stop on Friday afternoon at just before 4:30, the driver, identified as 37-year old Steven D. Page of Pekin exited the vehicle. He was advised to get back into the vehicle but then took off on foot. Page was apprehended in the area of the 700 block of East Oak Street. Police say that a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 35-year old Holly L. S. White, gave them false identification in regard to the driver. An investigation found that Page was wanted on two Tazewell County Warrants, one from 2014 and the other from 2013, both for DUI's. Officers also found that his driver's license was revoked. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was given a sobriety test that he allegedly failed. Page was charged with aggravated DUI, driving with a revoked driver's license and obstructing a peace officer. Page was taken to the Fulton County Jail. White was also taken to the Canton Police Department and processed on an obstructing a peace officer charge. She was given a notice to appear and released after being given an October Fulton County Court date.

Missouri Woman Arrested Following Traffic Stop

(Canton, IL) -- A Missouri woman was arrested following a traffic stop in Canton over the weekend. Canton police say they made the stop because the driver was not wearing a seat belt. After making the stop on Saturday night at just after 8:15, officers identified the woman as 33-year old Julia K. Henderson of Sullivan, Missouri. An investigation found that Henderson had a revoked Illinois driver's license. She was arrested and taken to the Canton police Department to be processed for driving with a revoked driver's license and for failing to wear a seat belt. She posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was then released with a November Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Warrant Arrest Made

(Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman who was wanted on an active warrant turned herself in to authorities in Canton last week. Police say that Kem M. Butler entered the Canton Police Department at just after 9:15 last Friday night to turn herself in on a 2011 Fulton County Warrant, failure to appear pay order DUI. Butler was arrested and processed for the warrant. She posted a $500 cash bond and a $20 processing fee. Butler was then released after being given an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Sentencing Held In Walmart Theft Case

(Pekin, IL) -- A Creve Coeur man was in Tazewell County Circuit Court Monday facing burglary and retail theft charges from three different incidents at three different Walmart stores. 48-year old Thomas McCure entered a guilty plea on Monday and was then sentenced to six years in prison. McCure was given credit for 120 days of time that he has already spent in jail. Authorities say that the incidents happened at Walmart stores in Pekin, East Peoria and in Morton.

Home Invasion Suspect Asks For New Judge

(Peoria, IL) -- A Peoria man who was one of three taken into custody following several home invasions that occurred in Peoria last year was in Peoria County Circuit Court. 43-year old Perry Rosetto was asking for a new judge that would hear his case. That motion was denied. Now Rosetto is asking for a suppression hearing that would take place next month.

Inmate Found Hanging In Ford County Jail Cell

(Paxton, IL) -- State police are investigating an attempt by an inmate in the Ford County Jail to hang himself. The man's name has not been released, but he is still in Carle Foundation Hospital's critical care unit. The inmate was found suspended from a bed-sheet on Monday morning in his cell. A correctional officer was able to get the man down and Ford County staff members started CPR right away.
