Farmers Make Progress With Corn Harvest
(Undated) -- Illinois farmers took advantage of warm, dry conditions last week to move along the corn harvest. State crop statistician Mark Schleusener says 14 percent of corn has been harvested. That's ahead of last year's pace, but behind the five-year average. He says 83 percent of the crop is in good to excellent condition. Meanwhile, 68 percent of soybeans are dropping leaves and seven percent of beans are in the bin.
