Illinois Metro Areas See Jobless Declines
(Springfield, IL) -- For the fifth consecutive month in August, unemployment is down in all of Illinois 12 metro areas. In the Chicago-Joliet-Naperville area, the jobless rate stands at six-point-two-percent, down nearly three-points from a year ago. Rockford's rate dropped to nine-point-four-percent, down two-points from last year, while Danville's rate is now nine-point-seven-percent, down from 12-point-two-percent in August 2013. In Peoria, the rate for August of 2014 is 7.7-percent, down from 9.4-percent in August of 2013. While in the Davenport, Moline and Rock Island area, the unemployment rate is at 6.2-percent for August of this year. In August of last year it was at 6.7-percent.
