Three Arrested Following Raid Of Smithfield Home (Smithfiled, IL) -- Fulton County authorities have arrested three people in connection with a drug investigation of a home in Smithfield. Authorities say that 38-year old Jeff Lafary, 38-year old Tanya Thompson and 21-year old Kelsey Pribble have each been arrested. Lafary has been charged with production of marijuana and marijuana possession. Both Thompson and Pribble were charged with possession of cannabis. Lafary remains in the Fulton County Jail on a $50,000 bond. Both Thompson and Pribble were released after posting bond. Authorities say they seized 118 marijuana plants after executing a search warrant. Peoria Man Arrested In Pekin On Battery Of Child Charges (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in Pekin have arrested a Peoria man for allegedly battering a child. Pekin police arrested 23-year old Akeem Jones at his home in Peoria on Thursday. Authorities say the incident happened on August 20th while Jones was watching the 18 month old son of his girlfriend. His girlfriend was in school at the time. The boy ended up being taken to Children's Hospital of Illinois in Peoria. Police say that the injuries, although were considered non-life threatening, they were still considered significant. Jones has been charged with aggravated battery to a child in Tazewell County. Two More Enter Guilty Pleas In U.S. Federal Court In Peoria (Peoria, IL) -- The last two men arrested last year as part of the Don't Shoot program and are allegedly part of the Zone Four Street Gang were in U.S. Federal Court in Peoria on Thursday. 31-year old Edward Jackson and 26-year old Tyrell Logan entered guilty pleas to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute charges. Four other men recently entered guilty pleas to similar charges in federal court. The six men are scheduled to appear in court again in early January to be sentenced. Man Rescued From Illinois River (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in Peoria had to rescue a man from the Illinois River after he drove his truck into an inlet of the river on Thursday. Authorities were dispatched to Galena Marina yesterday afternoon at about 1. Witnesses to the incident say that the man was driving the truck in circles in the parking lot before he then drove it down the boat ramp and into the river. The man then got out of the truck after rescue workers arrived at the scene and started swimming away from them. The rescuers eventually were able to get the man into the rescue boat. He was later taken to Methodist Hospital in Peoria to be evaluated. Authorities say that no charges have been filed at this point.
