Friendship Festival Underway In Canton

(Canton, IL) -- The annual Friendship Festival in Canton has started. The festival kicked off last night. Activities will continue to be held tonight. Tonight is bracelet night, $15 per bracelet beginning at 6 tonight. The Hula Hoop Contest will start at 6:45 tonight with music provided by Pink Sushi on the stage beginning at 7. Saturday night will feature a Christian concert. Dan Kumer, the President of this year’s Canton Friendship Festival says they are expecting a large crowd for the free concert. About A Mile will open for Dove Award Winning and Emmy nominated Newsong. The concert will start at 6 Saturday night. Also taking place on Saturday will be the annual parade which will start in the downtown area of Canton near the intersection of Avenue A and West Elm Street at 10 Saturday morning and wind south on South Main Street to East Oak Street where it will then head to the festival grounds before it ends.
