Arrests Made Following Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- Two Fulton County women are facing charges after a traffic stop that took place over the weekend in Canton. Canton police say they observed a truck that failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of North 1st Avenue and East Ash Street Saturday morning at just before 1:45. The driver of the truck was identified as 20-year old Dakota S. Stanton and a passenger in the vehicle was identified as 25-year old Tiffany M. Morse. During their investigation, K9 officer Shiva was brought in and alerted on the truck. Officers found Morse to be in possession of cannabis and also a hitter pipe used to smoke pot. Stanton was found to have been drinking and she also could not provide officers with proof of insurance. Both Morse and Stanton were taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed on charges. Stanton was charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor, operating a motor vehicle without insurance and also disobeying a stop sign. She posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released. Stanton was given an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Morse was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis over 10 grams and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She was unable to post bond and Morse was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.

Well Being Check Leads To Drug Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing drug charges after police responded on a well being check on Eastside Square late last week. Police say they responded to 45 Eastside Square Friday night at about 7 where they found a male sitting in an alley and who was allegedly very intoxicated. Officers say that they found cannabis that was located in his book bag and also a hitter pipe used to smoke marijuana. Officers then arrested 35-year old Christopher S. Hidden. He was taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed on charges of unlawful possession of Cannabis over 2.5 grams and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Hidden was given a notice to appear and then released with an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Warrant Arrest Made (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man who was wanted on an active warrant was arrested late last week. Officers say while they were on patrol, they ob served 41-year old Paul T. Cozart at Casey's General Store located at 125 North 5th Avenue. Police say they were aware that Cozart was wanted on a 2014 Fulton County Warrant for driving while suspended. He was then arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant. After posting a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee, Cozart was then released. He has an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.

Three Arrested After Shots Fired In Peoria Neighborhood (Peoria, IL) -- Three people were arrested earlier this week after reports of shots being fired over the weekend on East Virginia Avenue. Police say they responded to the home located at 617 East Virginia on Saturday night. Arrested were Benjamin Farney, Austin Durham and Virgil Nussel, Jr. The three were arrested on charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm, operating a gun without a license as well as with obstructing a police officer. Police say they surrounded a home after they ran inside a home. The three were later located on the back porch of the residence. Police don't believe there was an intended target to the dozen gunshots that were fired.
