Demler Drops Out Of Race For New Regional Office of Education Superintendents Position

(Lewistown, IL) -- Dave Demler, the current Regional Superintendent of Schools for Region # 22 in west central Illinois has decided to withdraw from the November ballot for a chance to lead a new, larger region in this area next year. The Regional Offices of Education are being reduced from 44 offices down to 35 statewide. That will take effect on July 1, 2015. ROE 22 will be combining with ROE 26. Region 22 serves Fulton and Schuyler Counties, while Region 26 serves Hancock and McDonough County. Demler was running as a Democrat and was against Region 26 Superintendent, Republican John Meixner. The winner would lead the new four county region. With Demler's decision to drop out of the race, that leaves only Meixner on the ballot. Demler says that he feels comfortable with his decision to drop out of the race and said the decision was made for the right reasons. Demler said that serving as a Regional Office of Education Superintendent has been a dream job. He will continue to serve as the ROE # 22 Superintendent until July 1st of next year.
