Child Struck By Car In Peoria (Peoria, IL) -- Police in Peoria are looking into an accident that involed a child being struck by a car on Tuesday. Authorities say that the accident happened on University Street when the child crossed the street, running in front of a car that had a green light. Police added that the child did not cross the street in a crosswalk when he was struck. Authorities believe that the boy was running toward McClure Street at the time of the accident. The child was transported to OSF-St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria for treatment of injuries suffered in the accident.
Police Investigating Sunday Crash In Bloomington (Bloomington, IL) -- A bicyclist remains hospitalized in serious condition after a Sunday crash in Bloomington. Police say a car struck a man riding a bike as it was crossing over IAA Drive from Clearwater Avenue. Accident reconstructionists were at the scene for several hours. The identities of the driver and the bicyclist have not been released at this time.
Washburn Man Dies As A Result Of Marshall County Accident (Washburn, IL) -- An accident in Marshall County earlier this week has left a Washburn man dead. The accident occurred on Tax School Road Monday afternoon at about 5 when the car flipped during the crash. Authorities from the Marshall County Sheriff's Office say that 68-year old Paul Diebel died from injuries suffered in the accident. Diebel's car crossed into the southbound lane, then struck a culvert, causing it to go airborne. He was ejected from the vehicle and Diebel was then pinned under the car. Authorities say the accident remains under investigation and are unsure what caused his car to go off of the roadway.
Normal Teen Reaches Plea Deal In 2013 Fatal Accident (Bloomington, IL) -- A Normal teen was in McClean County Circuit Court on Tuesday in connection with a fatal accident that occurred last year and took the life of a high school student. 19-year old Garrett Peterson entered a guilty plea yesterday to two counts of aggravated DUI and was then sentenced to 8-years in prison. Peterson had been facing five felony counts and six traffic tickets when charged initially in connection with the fatal accident that occurred last November. He reached a plea bargain before appearing in court yesterday. In addition to the fatality, Peyton Scheuerman of Normal, the accident also injured another passenger in the vehicle.
Driver In Deadly Chain Reaction Crash Blind In One Eye (Channahon, IL) -- More details are being released about the semi-truck driver who's accused of causing a deadly chain reaction crash on I-55, back in July. Attorney Frank says the driver is blind in one eye. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration gave him a waiver to stay on the roads just one day before the crash. There's no word on whether the vision impairment had anything to do with the accident, but Andreano says it could have affected the driver's depth perception. Andreano is representing the family of one of the women who was killed in the crash.
