Illinois Has Two Billion Dollar Weather Disasters In 2013

(Undated) -- The list of 2013 billion dollar weather disasters includes two in Illinois. There were nine weather events in the U.S. last year that caused more than a billion dollars in damage. That includes two in Illinois: flooding in the Chicago area in April of 2013 and the November 17th tornadoes that killed eight people. State Climatologist Jim Angel says it isn't unusual to see weather cause this sort of catastrophic damage in Illinois. Other billion dollar disasters across the country include the drought in the western plains and tornadoes in the southwest.
