Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest Of Lewistown Man (Canton, IL) -- A Lewistown man is facing charges after a traffic stop over the weekend in Canton. Police say they stopped a vehicle at the intersection of East Chestnut Street and North 5th Avenue on Saturday morning at just before 12:45, after they received a complaint from a woman that 27-year old Matthew F. Reneau had taken her vehicle. Officers met with Reneau. The vehicle was parked at Casey's located at the 5th and Chestnut location. During their investigation, officers found that Reneau had been driving the vehicle and that he had a revoked driver's license. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He was then given a notice to appear and released with an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Man Arrested After Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- A traffic stop in Canton resulted in the arrest of a Canton man. Police say they ran a routine registration check on a vehicle and found that the registration for the for a car not a van. Police then conducted the traffic stop at the intersection of East Elm Street and 4th Avenue on Wednesday morning of last week at just after midnight. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 61-year old David L. Giles. Police also found that Giles driver's license was suspended. He also wasn't able to provide authorities with proof of insurance. Giles was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended driver's license and driving a motor vehicle without proof of insurance. The vehicle was towed from the scene. Giles was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He was given a notice to appear and released with an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Fairview Woman Charged As A Result Of Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- A Fairview woman was arrested following a traffic stop that took place last week in Canton. Police say they conducted the stop in the 1100 block of West Locust Street on Wednesday night of last week at just after 9 when they spotted a truck crossing the turn lane lines while it was westbound on Locust Street. The driver of the truck was identified as 29-year old Kelly J. Oster. The officer making the stop detected an odor of alcohol coming from Oster. Several field sobriety tests were conducted which she allegedly failed. She was arrested and charged with DUI and taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. She was then charged additionally with DUI over .08 and improper lane usage. Oster posted her driver's license, a $100 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released. She has an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Muscatine Man Accused Of Beating Man With Baseball Bat (Muscatine, IA) -- A Muscatine man has been charged for murder for allegedly beating another man to death with a baseball bat. Police say 27-year-old Jose Tapia is accused of beating 39-year-old Michael Newman in the head with a bat. Newman died August 23rd at a hospital in Iowa City, more than two weeks after the incident occurred.
