Traffic Stop In Canton Last Week Results In Arrest Of Two Individuals
(Canton, IL) -- Two individuals are facing charges after a traffic stop that took place in Canton last week. Canton police say they stopped a truck in the area of Elm Street and Van Buren on Thursday morning last week at just after 1:15. Police say they first noticed the vehicle when officers on patrol heard the engine revving very loud in the area of 1st Avenue and Elm. Police then inquired why the driver of the truck was revving the engine when they were told to get lost. The officer said that the driver appeared to be intoxicated. The man identified as 28-year old Cody R. Carter then got out of the truck and was told several times to get back in it but he refused. He was then arrested on a charge of resisting a police officer. Canton Police were assisted by their K-9 unit, Bolo, who alerted on the truck. A passenger in the truck, identified as 25-year old Brandy R. Shirley of Dunfermline, was observed placing and open can of beer onto the ground through a hold in the floorboard of the truck. She was arrested on a charge of illegal transportation of alcohol. Carter was arrested on charges of resisting a police officer, DUI, failure to signal when required, improper display of registration, loud muffler violation and no insurance. Shirley was given a notice to appear and released at the scene with a September Fulton County Court date. Carter was taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed. He posted his driver's license and $100 cash bond as well as a $20 processing fee. Carter was released with a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
Canton Man Cited Public Drinking
(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man is facing charges after he was observed with an open can of alcohol on a street. POlice say they observed three subjects who were in the street with open alcohol. One of the subjects was identified as 30-year old Craig A. Van Middlesworth. He was given a citation for public drinking. Van Middlesworth was given a notice to appear and released at the scene. He has an October Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
Warrant Leads To Canton Mans Arrest
(Canton, IL) -- A Canton man wanted on a valid warrant was arrested last week in Canton. Police say they arrested 41-year old Joshua L. Fulton on a 2007 Fulton County Felony Warrant failure to appear pay order aggravated battery Friday night at about 11:40. Fulton was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant. He was unable to post bond and Fulton was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Peoria Man Indicted For July Shooting Incident
(Peoria, IL) -- A Peoria County Grand Jury indicted a Peoria man this week in connection with a shooting that took place last month. 33-year old Robert Luckett was indicted for the shooting on Tuesday. Luckett is charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, armed habitual criminal, domestic battery and aggravated battery in connection with the shooting incident that occured on July 28th. Police say the incident happened in the 200 block of West Richmond Avenue when multiple shots were fired. Luckett's bond is at $1-million. He is due back in Peoria County Circuit Court on Thursday to answer the indictment.
