Galesburg Teachers Remain On Strike

(Galesburg, IL) -- Teachers in Galesburg remain on the picket line. The Galesburg District 205 School Board and teachers in Galesburg met on Tuesday with a federal mediator. The strike by the teachers started on Tuesday of last week after they failed to reach an agreement with the district. Teachers in the district want an increase in pay of 1.5-percent. They also want several issues addressed such as safety as well as the number of days worked. District officials are saying that their budget is limited because of cuts in state funding.
