Two Cuba Teens Facing Drug Charges In Canton (Canton, IL) -- Two Cuba teens are facing drug charges after being arrested in Canton last week. Canton police say the made a traffic stop Friday morning at just after 2 in the area of Cypress and North Main Streets. Officers say they made the stop because the vehicle did not have a registration light. The driver was identified as 19-year old Derek A. Wilson and a 16-year old male. Canton police were assisted at the scene by the Fulton County Sheriff's Department's K-9 Shiva, who alerted on the vehicle. The 16-year old was found to have a pipe used to smoke cannabis as well as a plastic baggy that contained a small amount of pot. Wilson was found to have a hitter pipe located in his shoe. Wilson was given a notice to appear for a charge of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and released at the scene with a September Fulton County Court date. The teen was charged with unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis. He was given a juvenile intake referral and then released to a parent.
Canton Man Wanted On Warrant Arrested (Canton, IL) -- A Canton man who was wanted on a valid warrant was arrested last week in Canton. Police say they stopped 54-year old John D. Frew who was walking in the area of 4th Avenue and Maple Street Wednesday night at just after 11:15 near storage sheds in that area. Frew was found to be wanted on a 2006 Fulton County Misdemeanor Warrant, failure to appear pay order possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and taken to the Canton Police Department where he was processed for the warrant. Frew was unable to post bond and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown.
Suspect In Galesburg Stabbing Being Sought (Galesburg, IL) -- Authorities in Galesburg are looking for a man who allegedly stabbed a man to death. Police say that the incident happened last Wednesday night in the front year of a home that is located on Brooks Street in Galesburg. The victim in the stabbing, 49-year old Melvin Buckner died Sunday night at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. The suspect, 29-year old Christopher Croom is now wanted additionally on a murder charge in addition to a charge os unlawful use of a weapon by a felon. Police ask that if anyone has information in regard to his whereabouts to contact them. Bond for Croom was set at $1-million.
Police In Pekin Arrest Man Sought For Attempted Abduction (Pekin, IL) -- Authorities in Pekin say a man they were looking for has been taken into custody in Lincoln. Pekin police say that a mother of three children were at Hardees Sunday morning located at 105 North 5th Street in Pekin when a man they did not know spoke to the children and then pulled up a chair to the table. The man then appeared to leave the restaurant. The mother told police that she took one of the children to the restroom when the man appeared again. The man then spoke to a 6-year old boy and was able to get him to walk outside of the restaurant with him. Three males who were eating inside the restaurant noticed the incident and confronted the man as he was leaving the restaurant with the boy. One man stopped the boy from leaving the restaurant. He was also able to take a picture of the man and the truck he was driving. The man who has been identified as Thomas Anthony was being held in Lincoln until Pekin Detectives were able to pick him up. Anthony was taken to the Tazewell County Jail.
