Blown Arrestor In Transmission Line Causes Power Outage

(Undated) -- Over 5,000 customers of Ameren Illinois were without power for a couple of hours in and near Canton on Tuesday. Ameren Illinois' Stacey Shangrow says it was a blown arrestor in a transmission line near Canton that caused the outage. Customers in Canton, St. David, Dunfermline, Cuba, Lewistown, Liverpool, Little America, Maples Mill, Norris, Banner, Bryant and Glasford all reported a power outage. The power went out at about 1:30 and was off until shortly after 3:30 when power was restored. In all 5,157 Ameren Illinois electric customers were without power during the outage.
