Galesburg Teachers Remain On Strike
(Galesburg, IL) -- The Galesburg teachers remain on strike. Some of the sticking points for the union on the contract include school safety, retirement benefits and just cause termination. School district officials say that its the money that is causing the stalemate. Both sides say they want to negotiate, but the administration says they won't talk without a mediator. Beginning tomorrow, if an agreement is not reached, the Galesburg Education Association will begin hosting public forums around Galesburg. The first forum is set to take place in Lecuture Hall C at Carl Sandburg College tomorrow night. It will be from 6 until 7 p.m. If the strike continues, more forums will take place later in the week. One would be on Wednesday at the public library, also from 6 until 7 p.m. On Thursday, another forum would be held at First Lutheran Church from 6 until 7 p.m.
