Three Arrested In Canton Following Traffic Stop (Canton, IL) -- Three people were arrested after Canton police conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Elm and 7th Avenue. Police say they received a complaint in regard to reckless driving in the area of East Elm Street and South 7th Avenue Saturday morning at just before 1. After making the stop, police identified the driver as 33-year old Terry Kidd of Canton. Two people identified as passenger in the vehicle were 31-year old Ronald D. Malin and William K. Carter, both of Canton. The investigation resulted in Malin being arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis over 2.5 grams. Cargter was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams Kidd was charged with unalwrful possession of a controlled substance. Carter was given a notice to appear and released. Malin posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee and was released. Kidd was released so she could go get her prescription for the controlled substance. She later returned to the police department without the prescription and was then given a notice to appear and released. All three have September Fulton County Court dates in Lewistown. Canton Woman Facing Drug Charges (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman is facing drug charges after she was spotted by police sitting behind tavern in the downtown Canton area. Officers say they observed her sitting behind Jack's Bar Saturday night at just after 8:45 and knew that she was wanted for a valid warrant. Police say 54-year old Mary Belles was wanted on a 2013 Fulton County Warrant failure to restrain. She was arrested for the warrant. An investigation found that Belles also had a drug paraphernalia pipe in her purse as well a small amount of marijauna. She was taken to the Canton Police Department to be processed for the warrant as well as charges of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of cannabis under 2.5 grams. Belles was given a notice to appear for the charges but was unable to post bond for the warrant and was later taken to the Fulton County Jail in Lewistown. Traffic Stop Results In Arrest Of Texas Man (Canton, IL) -- A Texas man is facing charges after Canton police conducted a traffic stop earlier this week. Canton police say they observed a vehicle that was southbound on Main Street that had a large crack in the windshield. Authorities say the truck then merged into a turn lane without turning on its turn signal. Police conducted the traffic stop at 90 East Locust Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 55-year old Randall D. Bishop. During their investigation, authorities found that Bishop had a suspended Illinois driver's license. He was cited and given a notice to appear and then released. Bishop has a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown. Canton Woman Wanted On Valid Warrant Turns Self In (Canton, IL) -- A Canton woman who was wanted on a valid warrant turned herself in to Canton police over the weekend. Police say that 46-year old Sherry A. Whiteman turned herself in at the Canton Police Department located at 2 North Main Street in Canton Sunday night at just after 6:45. Authorities say that Whiteman was wanted on a 2010 Fulton County Warrant, failure to appear obstructing police. Whiteman was arrested and processed at the police department. She posted a $150 cash bond and a $20 processing fee before being released. Whiteman was given a September Fulton County Court date in Lewistown.
