Fatal Accident In Peoria Sunday Morning (Peoria, IL) -- An accident over the weekend in Peoria has left a woman dead. The two car accident occurred Sunday morning at about 6 on Sterling Avenue near Westminister Avenue. Police say the victim, Doris King, and her four year old female passenger were southbound on Sterling when they were hit from behind by a BMW. King and the 4-year old passenger were both taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria. King was later pronounced dead. The child suffered from serious injuries. The driver of the BMW was identified as 27-year old Jeffrey Steele. He was taken to a hospital to be treated for minor injuries suffered in the accident. Authorities believe that speed as well as alcohol played a art in the accident. Steel has been charged with aggravated DUI and after being released from the hospital was taken to the Peoria County Jail. Pekin Teen Sentenced In Pekin Car Burglary Case (Pekin, IL) -- A Pekin teen was in Tazewell County Court last week in connection with a series of car burglaries that recently took place in Pekin. 189-year old Gabriel Thompson was sentenced on Friday. He entered a guilty plea in Tazewell County Circuit Court to one count of burglary. Thompson was charged with the car burglaries that occurred in the 1200 block of Florence in Pekin last year. The arrest took place just one day after Pekin police had warned residents to lock their cars. Thompson was given credit for jail time that he has already served and was also place on 30 months probation. A second teen arrested for the car burglaries, Gage King of Peoria was sentenced to 5 1/2 years of prison time. Peoria Police Investigating Weekend Shooting (Peoria, IL) -- Authorities in the River City are looking into a shooting that took place over the weekend. Peoria police say they were dispatched to the 15000 block of West Garden Street Saturday morning at just before 2:45 on the report of shots being fired. One man was taken to a Peoria hospital to be treated for injuries after being shot in the back. Police say they are looking for a shooter.
