Governor Signs Payroll Card Legislation

(Undated) -- Governor Pat Quinn Signed a new law last week to help workers who receive their salary on payroll cards. Some employers issue their staff these cards instead of a traditional paycheck, but Governor Quinn says the problem is that the payroll cards often come along with fees as high as five dollars. The new law, which takes effect January 1st, sets limits on those fees and makes sure workers are given the option to accept their wages in another form.
