Gun Groups Target Peoria Thumbprint Rule
(Peoria, IL) -- Gun rights supporters are expected to challenge a Peoria measure that requires gun buyers to provide a thumbprint. The Illinois State Rife Association recently polled its Peoria members to find out how many have had to supply a print of their thumb when buying a handgun in the city. The ordinance also requires gun buyers to complete a form that asks questions similar to what is asked on federal background check documents filled out before each gun purchase. A lawsuit is among the possible actions considered.
