Accident Near Peoria Ties Up Traffic On Illinois Route 6 (Peoria, IL) -- A weekend accident on Illinois Route 6 left one person hospitalized and also shut down traffic on the highway for several hours. Authorities say the accident occurred early Sunday morning, shutting down traffic on Route 6 between War Memorial and Allen Road. Northboud traffic was shut down for about two hours with southbound traffic shut down for nearly three hours. Police say that the driver of the vehicle lost control while driving at a high rate of speed, flipping the vehicle several times before it landed in the median. The driver was transported to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center to be treated for injuries suffered in the accident. That accident continues to be investigated by authorities. Stabbing In Pekin Over The Weekend Being Investigated (Pekin, IL) -- A Pekin man was seriously injured after he was stabbed over the weekend in Pekin. Authorities say the victim, a 29-year old male, was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria to be treated for stab wounds at just before midnight, Saturday night. The alleged stabbing happened in an alley that is located behind the Busy Corner Restaurant located at 229 Derby Street in Pekin. After a foot pursuit, police did make an arrest of a 16-year old male. The teen was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center in Peoria. The investigation into the incident is continuing. Authorities Investigate Shooting In Morton (Morton, IL) -- Authorities in Morton were dispatched to a report of gun shots being fired over the weekend at a mobile home park. Police responded to the report at the Oak Lawn Mobile Estates early Saturday morning. Authorities say that there were shots that were fired at, and around a trailer. No suspects have been located in regard to the shots being fired. There were no injuries reported. Assisting at the scene was the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit. The incident continues to be investigated. Man Allegedly Tries To Murder Roommate Over Cookies (Decatur, IL) -- A disagreement over a few cookies has landed one central Illinois man behind bars. Decatur Police say 23-year-old Allen Hall tried to strangle his roommate to death after she ate three of his Chips Ahoy cookies. The woman says Hall threatened to kill her but she thought he was just joking. He allegedly tried to make good on the promise while she was in the bathtub last Wednesday. Hall is charged with attempted murder and is being held in the Macon County Jail on 75-thousand-dollars bond.
