Public Invited To Dickson Mounds Nature Trek Program

(Lewistown, IL) -- Dickson Mounds Museum's next Nature Trek program is "Viewing the Night Sky" later this month. The public is invited to view the Perseid Meteor Shower on the Museum's Observation Deck. Watch as bright meteors zip by in the early morning hours before dawn, a peak time for meteor activity. The darkness over the landscape makes this an ideal location for viewing. "Viewing the Night Sky" will be on Tuesday, August 12th and viewing will begin at 4 in the morning. Participants may bring a lawn/camping chair or blanket for comfort. Afterwards enjoy a light breakfast and even the sunrise. The program is free and registration is not required.
